Hads my 3.2 missing parts?!

Hi my 85 3.2 Carrera engine looks doiferent from some others; as you look in to the engine bay other cars seem to have a plastic shroud on the left side at the top (nearside). Mine doesn't have this sorry for my limited knowledge.

I think you mean the heater part that comes from the hotair blower. Maybe the p.o backdated the heating system. Post a pic of you engine bay and we will have a look for you

The car can still have the auto heat controls and be backdated.

Not terribly uncommon. There is a little servo in there with an arm that moves the heater boxes, it can break and was broken on my SC system.

Like Matthew said could be the servo or maybe it,s just a loose connection inside the box. The servo makes enough noise to hear it operating. Can you hear something from the box when you switch on the heating ?

take the four allen bolts out at the sides of the box and check connections and offcourse check fuses first.

Could you take a picture of you engine. I know what part you say you are missing but im trying to see if a PO had installed a different type of heat system. The only way I can tell is if you post a pic of the engine bay.
