Another 993 brake question???/ 930 calipers?? For my 72 RSR

Just want to know if there is any advantage in using rear 930 calipers somewhere on my 72 RSR VS the 993 set up.

After my long search through the archives it seems that Bill Verburg's set up (993 set up)
is the prefered and most cost effective method .

I may be able to get a decent deal on the 930 rear calipers just rebuilt around $300-400
is this somthing to get exited about ?

Or just stick with Bills's set up below that many pelicans are running .

would apreciate any opinions.

1 x complete set of 993 calipers front and rear.

2 x caliper adapters for the front
2 x modification to 3" axial mount at the rear & modified throat. 965 rear can also be used and are more desireable due to the wide throats that are oem.
2 x front pads set
2 x rear pad set
4 x axial mounting bolts front
4 x radial mounting bolts front
4 x axial mounting bolts rear
4 x flex lines & fittings
2 x 304x32mm front rotors and mounting hats(DIN has 309x32 that also work)
2 x 309x28 mm late 930 rear rotors
2 x remove rear dust shield & mounts

you do not want any of the 28/30 variants 964/951/944/928

What wheel sizes are you running? If you already have rims, what are they and what are the offsets? Why the questions? the 993 calipers will require larger rims than the 930 calipers < which can work with 15" fuchs

the 930 set up is more than enough brake for most 911's. especially earlier cars since they are a lot lighter then the cars these brake were equipped on, and look period correct for your car.

Thanks Tre

I hate to say this but the car and set up will be very similar to jacks BB2.

17" lindseys front- 9.5x17 245 maybe 255
rear- 11x17 I will not be going with the 315 something not as wide.

As for the offsets the rear will be the same but for the front im still trying to figure out (God help me) how to replicate the front end work you guys did on BB2 to retain its nimbleness. Is there anyway you could Fab another set of control arms?
Im getting way off topic but it was just a matter of time before I askes you or jack about that front end.

So is that the only advantage with the 930 calipers is that I can run 15" rims?

The 993 rears require quite a bit of modification to get them to fit. the 930's are essentially bolt on, no?

sure- be happy to make up a set of struts and arms for you- gotta have the struts to get it to fit and reap the benefits of the longer arms. pm us at info@tremotorsports.com for more info on this

jack's car has 930 set up and it works just fine. the advantage of the 993 set up is obvious with its larger rotors- you get more mechanical advantage under braking and the larger calipers have more pad to clamp down with. it comes down to $$ really as the car's light weight (72 RSR replica, right?) and tire contact patch will help with your braking performance. In the end it most likely would take a driver with serious skill to tell the difference on the track between the two

The heart of any BBK is going to be the rotors. Both 993 for 911 and 930 for 911 will be using the same rotors.

Dave is quite correct in that the 930 caliper is more compact than the 993. The 930s caan be used in 15s, it's tight but does work.

No, not in the back, unless you have 930 trailing arms
