How do you unhook the taillight assemblies from the harness?

How do you unhook the taillight assemblies from the wiring harness? I want to pull them out for my repaint, and also to restore them (they have overspray from a past repaint, and some corrosion on the reflectors) I searched and search but never saw this question...

thanks,

Britt

The harness joins just inside the engine bay to the rear at each side. Unplug the harness and then push the rubber harness bung out to allow painting.

Cheers
John

Or you could unscrew the back of the light housing and tuck it inside out of the way and leave the wiring intact. Depends on how far you want to0 strip the car down.

They get out very easy (connectors) if you have some heat on it (not too much hairdryer could be OK) when plugs get heat you could pull it out and they will get out from holes, so you will have taillights with harness as one part. Installation of those connectors are the same - you should to warm it a bit and than put in to the holes.
So my 3 cents... from experiences.

thanks tommy, i just figured that out when i figured out how to remove the front wiring so I could get the fender off...

One thing, i guess I need to disconnect the oil tank level sender too since that is wired to the same harness, much like the horn is on the headlight harness.

those back side screws on the taillight assembly are not budging and i don't want to strip 'em yet...
