Yes this is the plan....

Scrap the Brembo GTPs. Get 930 brakes.

Finish the car with the stock 5-hole hubs and the Lindseys.

Get the center lock hubs made.

When ready (March) mount the hubs and take measurements. Have a set of 10x15 and 12x15 917 replica wheels (centerlock) made for street use.

Have a set of 9.5x18 and 11x18 Kodiak wheels made for track use.

Build a roof rack to carry the Kodiaks to the track (I believe in driving the car to the race track and driving it back).

Sell the Lindseys.

Those wheel choices should make for a stunning contrast.:)

quattrorunner 12-20-2006 10:03 AM

Teo, please use forged, not cast.
You could mill using forged blanks and have race car strong centers and then use the outers in whatever you need.
BTW, I choose fuchs anyway. Or HRE style mesh.
I don't personally understand the center lock need other than making the car duplicate a race car in apperiance or making a race car. Didn't porsche use the big wide fuchs to race?

Facey 12-20-2006 11:52 AM

no porsche's used fancy centerlocking wheels...lol.

i think you have made the 100% perfect decision!!!!
i can't wait for some more update photos...

I have all kinds of doubts... especially about being able to stop the thing with the 930 brakes, 2,400lbs and 380 ponies pushing from behind.

You will be fine. As long as you have forced air cooling when at the track, all will be well.

Teo,
Interesting idea about down-sizing the brakes.

Contact Clint at RebelRacing if you want him to restore and rebuild a set of 930 calipers for you. I'm very pleased what he did for my calipers. Clint also raised the spindles on my struts some years ago. He also did the machine work on my rear calipers so they mate to the 911 trailing arms.

930 brakes are actually very good, with the right pads and front cooling ducts they should handle your 2400 pound car just fine.

I'm curious what tires you'd be using on these wide 15" wheels?

Craig 930 RS 12-20-2006 03:07 PM

18" is great for slicks. You won't be running those....they heat cycle out ASAP.

911teo 12-20-2006 03:10 PM

With the 15" wheels I'd run Michelin TBs

Doug

If I go ahead with the plan I'll get the 930 trailing arms as well.

At this moment I am trying to swap my Brembo GTPs and Carrera trailing arms for 930 Brakes and trailing arms.

I know the 930 brakes are avaliable... difficult to find are the turbo trailing arms...

mpeastend 12-21-2006 11:50 AM

Matteo, I was able to get some 930 trailing arms from DC Automotive. They had several sets back then (4/06). They weren't cheap. $2400 if I remember correctly...I'll have to check. If different, I'll PM you.

That's it! It just stops like this after reading for over an hour! Not fair............

lateapex911 12-29-2006 07:52 PM

Hey, no complaining....none of us are having to pay the shop labor and parts bills!

Teo,
Amazing dream you're living...
Enjoy the journey and don't forget to keep posting pictures!

It's the Holidays tough time to put the squeeze on the skilled guys that have done so much already.
This thing is gonna be hell on wheels before spring!
:D
I considered the 930 arms and passed.
Plenty of very fast guys running aluminum SC arms too.

Tinker 12-30-2006 11:55 AM

Incredible.......

Mike I am not that fast... I need all the help I can get...

Plus this is still a street/DE car. i think it would need some more mods to be a competitive race car (full cage, camber boxes in the rear, fg body panels etc).

All is good. Keith and Aaron are going to put a squeeze on it next week.

Happy new year to all of you!

This thing isn't done yet?
