I am running a 315/35/18 nitto NT-01 in the rear with 245/45/18 in the front in a Super Sport Race tire. It is mainly a spirited street car I was just courious to see what specs some of you guys are running...

Thanks!

Craig

if you don't mind sharing... we'll have a very good starting point...
I think the problem is the offset of my wheels (measurements were taken when I had Tbars and different calipers).

But we are having new wheels made so I'd love hear your thoughts. THANKS

Caveats:

1) This is a 930 - with 930 trailing arms and 930 geometry.
Teo, this is good news for you

2) I have 275/315 Kumho V710 tires. When I ran 255s in V700 up- front, the car felt terrible. Completely different.

3) Some other stuff I forget right now.....

I'll look for the specifications -

craig,
what was the problem with the 255s?? Understeer?? I hope not

whats the steering feel like on the 930 compared to your narrow body 3.6conversion car? I get the feeling that the wide tires kill some of that resposive feel.... I hope I'm wrong.

Thanks

The problem was greatly diminished steering feel - the camber was optimized for 275s.
It was so bad that on-track 'confidence' took a good sized hit.
****
Feel at low speed is way heavier. Brute strength needed in parking lots.
But it isn't a parking lot car.

Below about 25 mph it is a bit more 'sluggish'. Any speed above that it is a huge improvement with very quick directional change and huge feedback through the wheel. Hang on tight while on the street - ruts, wear grooves etc -

Some of this is from the tire width and probably more of it from the camber - IMO.

Grip at higher speeds is way up.

I saw your car today Matteo! I was so excited and honored! What a truly gorgeous color blue! I took a few pics of it...including one VERY similar to that Lindsey wheel...

Congratulations on the new car in the sig. Now that you have the GT, does the Porsche hold less anticipation for you? I imagine the GT already has a better power:weight than the Porsche will.

Thank you... I have been in love with the GT since its presentation as a project in 2002. For me it has it all... Don't flame me but like the 911 it has heritage, looks and it beat the Ferraris at their own game.
Also it is not the obvious choice for a car (GT3 RS and 430 CS come to mind).

In terms power to weight ratio the GT is 3,450 lbs and 550 hp... so 6.27 lbs/HP. The 911 will have around 380hp and we are gunning for 2,300 lbs so 6 lbs/HP ratio.

My guess is that the GT will be much easier to drive fast for a guy like me.
In the right hands my 911 should run circles around the GT anywhere apart from Le Mans and the Ring where the better aero of the GT will have the advantage.

As per the expectations... to be honest I thought it would take a lot less time to get the 911 ready. I have learnt that to do it right it takes time.

But I am sure that if I had had the 911 on the road sooner I would have not bought the GT.

The GT is one of those cars that will remain special for many years to come... flame all you want about being a Ford... but those lines, the low profile, the fact that they are no longer making anymore... just a great modern interpretation of a timeless design that will age extremely well.

Congrats on getting one Matteo. Please share your thoughts on it once you get a few miles under your belt.

There was a car show close to home and they had a red one. Just a thing of beauty.

Flame you for buying a GT???? How could ANY car guy have a problem with THAT!!!!! They're awesome!

(I wonder how different it will be driving a supercharged V8 compared to a high winding flat 6!)
