We've been hearing about wheels and spindles for months....
It's the motor which has not been discussed much...and the tweaking of the motor - including all the technology and mapping stuff needed. From what I've heard, Dawe is a great mechanic... He is the wrench involved. Any updates he can share would be a real morale booster. Last edited by Duckworth; 06-15-2007 at 11:48 PM.. |

Yes the motor is the big deal... here is the story...
I need to have this car in running condition before I can move to England. Since we used a new tub I need to have the DMV issue a new title. For them to do that an inspector needs to come out and check that the car is street legal and running.... Tricky without an engine. Peter Dawe offered to help us out after Timmins' engine tuner had the accident. Since we are in the middle of the racing season Peter Dawe is buried with work for racing customers. So I am in the queue. The tuning session was supposed to take place last week, but things got in the way. So we are waiting. |

But a wheel manufacturer stepped in and is working on gettin a set of forged modular 3-piece replica wheels done. We are possibly 3-4 months away for the wheels though. In the meantime I am going to run the Lindseys RSR Fuchs. |

Hey Matteo do you not still have the 3.6? If time is an issue could you put the 3.6 in for now and get the ball rolling then get the 3.8 tuned here in the UK on UK gas etc?

I sold the 3.6 to a good friend. We thought abt using a different motor to pass inspection but we'd need a whole harness as well.
At the time we were under the impression that my engine was going to be ready sooner. But as things stand it might become our best option. |

Teo, in the great scheme of things if you had to move over without the car, and then fly back for a few days to run it through its inspection and get it in with the shippers, would that not be OK? Our MoTeC guy here could easily fettle the EFI setup on UK fuel at first service.
I think if there's any way to just hang on and let Keith put it all together properly first time around then you should go that way. If I had just put all those weeks into building it I would want to see it run out of my workshop as a finished article. I love the 917 rims if you can get them remade, but the Lindseys will look superb also. A brand-new friend of mine has modular centrelocks on his racecar, dunno where he got them but wonder if similar wheels would fit yours. I know a clever associate of his made all the disc hats and wheel mounts etc (we were just out at Spa together, maybe we can drag you along next year): ![]()

Fuch Centerlocks
Are there any plans to produce Fuch replicas that can accomodate the centerlocks?

Having the car shipped by itself creates issue as the deal I got from the car-transport company involves the shipment of all 4 cars togehter (993, Cayenne, GT and 911). Anyway it will all sort itself out... And I am in for Spa next time you guys go... |

Hmmm...Matteo,
I'm sure some *generous* Pelicanites would be happy to just drive those cars cross country for you, to some port on the east coast. Don't push your way to the front of the line, folks. ![]()

With Matteo being in Charlotte, the drive to Charleston would only be 4-5 hours (maybe 6). I don't think you'd have a problem finding a few Pelicans to assist driving them to the port! I know I'm in if I'm in town!
Good luck man. I know I can't wait to see it completed! Later, Mike

If we are being generous lets get him someone to set that engine up... the man has the patience of a saint at this point with all the waiting. One can only hope that the wait will make the pleasure of the finished project all the more rewarding. hang in there Matteo!

Keith, I realise these will connected by hoses (the areas cirlced in red), and that it was done to keep air from going under the car. But, do you think there is any brake cooling advantaged gained by dumping the air into the wheel well (as a side benefit)?
