Sorry... but the car is insured only for my wife and myself to drive.

porsche911girl 09-12-2007 09:29 PM

I wasn't asking to drive it, I was only asking for a passenger ride in it, that's all.

EarlySport 09-12-2007 11:08 PM

911Girl - Matteo is in the UK, so no-one in the USA is insured to drive the car for you to be a passenger with!

I'm sure you will have other opportunities to ride in fast Porsches with your obvious enthusiasm!

SCHNELE 09-13-2007 06:56 AM

Come on, the shop insurance will cover the car give her a ride she IS obviously a passionate enthusiast, if you want a ride in my car you can hike up to Speedwerks in Thomasville and get a ride with some race car drivers who build beast that they call cars in North Carolina. Just a little encouragement there aye Matteo not calling you out on grace, generosity or anything else just thought you could potentially make an indelible mark in someone's life.

911teo 09-13-2007 07:21 AM

SCHNELE this is not even a problem anymore because the car is on its way North by now....

Porschegirl knew where the car was and could have gone to see it/ask for a spin.

The problem here though is that there is a huge responsibility that whoever drives the car takes upon themselves.

I am all for it... it's a car.. if it is wrecked you can rebuild it (it all started from my previous crash anyway).... but who's going to take that risk?

Look, several people have driven my GT. Also when I go to the grocery store I let people sit in it, touch everything etc. I totally believe that it's an honor to be able to share these cars with other people.

But this was really out of my hands, plus I just found out throught the reply on this thread that Porsche911girl really wanted a ride....

Keith and Aaron are the best guys... really she should have just gone down and ask them. Plus the car has been ready for 6 weeks now... with only minor adjustments....

I am really sorry... I promise a spin/drive to anybody who wants to when the car arrives to the UK.

You might regret saying that Matteo, there will be a queue forming outside your front door shortly :D

You can still get passenger laps in it Katie, you'll just have to come to Silverstone, or Le Mans, or Spa, or wherever. Organise another t-shirt buying trip to the UK and the pax seat will be yours for a bit ;)

Yup...

I know it's a little cheesy... it's a decal.. I can take it off...

My name is Matteo Amoroso and Nicola (the co-pilot/navigator) is my wife.

Don't take those decals off! That's what makes that car special to your heart amongst other things within the shell of that car, it's the little things that matter. IT LOOKS AWESOME, CONGRATULATIONS!! SmileWavy

Actually, I did come out for your going-away party, had been really looking forward to at least sitting in the car, if not being lucky enough to get a ride in it. I was told it was a drop-in type of thing, and when I dropped in, you had left and I was afraid to ask anyone as I didn't know anyone there. Plus, I thought it would be rude for me to even sit in it without asking your permission first. Here I was trying to be all considerate.

I PM'd you several weeks back about getting a ride in it before it left. Maybe it didn't go through.

I don't want to make anyone mad on here, least of all Matteo, and I'm not mad at anyone either, just very disappointed that something that awesome was taking place so nearby and I couldn't be a part of it...that's all.

Maybe by the time I ever make it back to the UK (5 years and counting) or Southern Cali (2 years and counting) I'll finally be able to ride shotgun in a kick-ass Porsche 911.

Try and get to a DE at a track near you. A ride at the track will be better than any ride on the rode, regardless of the car.

Rich

Katie
I apologize I left the party before you got there, but I had a plane to catch to move to the UK.

Again the car has been at Zuffenhaus for a month now. You met Keith and the other guys... you could not find a bunch of more helping and welcoming people.

I am sure if you wanted to you could just show up and they would have loved to either take you out for a quick "tune up" spin or open the car up for you to check it properly. After all they built it and are always happy to show their craftmanship, especially to an eager enthusiast like yourself.

As suggested by SCHNELE and Rick there are tons of kick ass 911s around your area. Go to the next DE at CMP (there is one organized by Turnone Motorsports every 1st Friday of the month) and ask to ride shotgun in the warm up laps with an instructor.... Nothing better than that to really feel what a 911 can do.

It would have been boring to trot around in my 911 at 40mph.

Hope all is well in the U.K.

Are you driving the car much these days ?

Hope that red tape is out of the way....

Bump in honor of the most recent Excellence Pelican car, and yes, I am jealous ;-)

911teo 10-26-2007 11:29 AM

I have not seen the article (Excellence ishard to find over here) and I have not driven th car yet.

The article delayed the whole shipping arrangements...

So you know more about the car than I do!

But rest assure a tour de force of the European F1 tracks avaits the 911 when it finally hits the UK shores...

And it will be well documented... ;)

Plus Jeff Alton has a couple of nice surprises that are bein developed right now....

Jeroen 10-26-2007 11:55 AM

Teo, I think it was featured 2 issues back already...
Call or e-mail Excellence, I'm sure they'll send you a couple of mags for free
(they did when they published my article)

And post your track dates
I'm sure there are plenty of Pelicanites who'd like to come see the car in real life (I know I do)

I'm pretty sure that was a 930 Turbo, same color though.
