"You are correct sir." :D

I think that you guys should paint the roll bar when Teo isn't looking. :p

Blue 993 mirrors would be my choice, but if ya want 70s.

The car from the outside is an exact replica of the 74 RSR/IROC cars.

So the 993/964 mirrors woud look out of place.

If you want to me picky then the 993 flush mounted windshield/rear widow/flush quarter windows seals are a giveaway... still those are details only the cogniscenti would notice.

I think the roll bar looks OK. What colour would you do it instead?

The fan instead looks a little bling in Mexico blue and the 1st thing I am going to do is to medial blast it.

Let me just say that the car is fantastic. You are an absolute maniac, and I mean that in the best possible way. I didn't want to mention the fan.... I think that the roll bar would have been better black or aluminum finish.... but it's a very minor point all things considered.

Looking back through the posts I saw that you were hoping to be on the road at Easter '06, so bless you for sticking with it. I can't imagine how much fun you are going to have with this car (but I'm sure that John Glynn would love to show you some of the UK tracks). Rock on!

teo,

I wanted to jump in and compliment you on the work done and color choice!

13 years ago, I restored my '73 to a color close to yours....I went with the 993 color Riviera Blue......IROC bumpers front & rear.....I even have the dash painted blue like yours!.....mine looks like a miniature version of yours but with the long hood and no decals. I went with the 993 aero mirrors but have to agree that your mirror choice is best.

Now I am re-restoring mine to a RS.

I'm using your car to look at how the black trim makes for an awesome contrast with that blue!

I know your black mirrors are correct for the '74 and that they are larger than the stainless ones for a '73. I'd like to get some black ones for mine....can you tell me where they were sourced from?

Thanks

Matteo, I think you need to reissue your priorities! Don't bother tinkering, but some miles on that baby! Then tinker; but for now, enjoy your car.

Thanks for the kind words!

Would love to see pics of your car!

Don't worry... as soon as the car gets here it will be given warm welcome and taken straight to a pan European christening journey!! ;)

Teo,
Have it tumbled instead of media blasted. The pores will open from the blasting and will be more closed from tumbling. My Lindsey Fuchs are blasted and are a beeatch to keep clean. I'm going to have them annodized one day.
Take care and good luck in your new digs,

Doug

*snif* I never got to see this monster in person. I thought for sure I would on a Dragon run with you.

Beautiful job Matteo, good luck over there in England. I am sorry now I did not go out of my way to meet up with you in person.

911teo 08-30-2007 05:57 AM

Jim
I was convinced I would be able to come to your place in NC as well... Oh well... next time!

Good luck with your venture and thanks for the kind words.

Regarding wheels - a good period option is BRM type Gt40 wheels (mk1)
6 spoke magnesium originals very close to the RSR/917 wheel.
And the good news is you can get the right offset and width ranges given the mass of GT40 makers out there.

When in black they would look the biz -
its the route I would go for a 934 or RSR with knockoffs and you can get them with fack knockoffs/hidden bolts.

911teo 08-30-2007 06:33 AM

I spoke to those guys... the BRM GT40 wheels are cast.

We are in the process of having a 917/RSR forged centerlock 3-piece replica wheel made. Hopefully for the Rennsport reunion.
More news as soon as I have concrete info as there are several key people involved.

red964 08-30-2007 06:55 AM

Its either that or marry into the www.edmondharris.com family.

911teo 08-30-2007 07:12 AM

So the car is finally finished... It took a little longer that expected.... but I am very pleased with the results (at least aesthetically as I have not been able to drive it properly yet).

There are a lot of people that I have to thank for their help and support.

I will not try and name everybody because I am sure I will leave people out and that would suck.

Let me say that this board is probably the reason I have done this to my car. 4 years ago I was just about to buy my 1st Porsche 911. Fast forward a little bit and I am now stuck with this Frankenstein of a car... and it is all your fault.

Anyway to recap what has been done to the car I have drawn up a little list.

Keith is busy taking the final pictures of the car....

Ciao for now... and the next updates will be about the driving impressions :D
