Question for Wayne

Can Pelican source me a couple of Sonnenschein batteries for my 1970? I have only found one source in FL (I am in CA) on line and they want $350 for 2 of them with shipping?

Thanks

I like how more than 104 people have viewed the question for Wayne... is nothing sacred anymore?

funny I thought I was in the parts for sale forum when I posted the msg. however if the remark was sarcastic I will have to refer to the moderator for some control and banishment, perhaps a time out is called for.

I bought two of these DF75 batteries from Lauderdale Battery for something like $95 each. Is that who gave you the $350 price. If not, and our host cannot help, you might try them.

Maybe others need these type of batteries also? Ever thought to think that if they do, that's when it becomes a tech ?

I recall seeing Wayne's comment on this forum that PP can procure ANY part, not just those listed on line in the PP catalog.
I would be interested (technically) to know if that holds for desirable parts like these batteries, or possibly the Westco equivalent.

As recommended above - give our sales dept a call at 1-888-280-7799. Talk to Tom at extension 221. I'm personally not sure if we can get these batteries.

Frankly, they are not the way to go. For the early cars, the best solution is an Optima that is mounted in one of the front battery trays, and flipped sideways. They are sealed, and won't leak and destroy your chassis. This is what I have setup (not installed quite yet) on my 1972...

Wayne,

The Sonnenschein batteries are also a completely sealed gel battery and are an exact fit for the originals.

Is there a reason that you think these are not the way to go?

As are the Westco Miata batteries and a few others out there. PP should have one of these "exact fit" lines available..
