Paint Code
Guys,
My car is a 1969 911E. Some of you have seen this picture before (me at Castle Donnington last June). The colour is 1969 Corvette Yellow. Does anyone have an idea where I can find (tried getting into a Corvette webforum without success) who made the paint, and what the code is? Thanks Dom ![]()

The factoy yellow for a '69 Vette is Daytona Yellow: 984-1969
What do you mean by who made the paint? You can have the color replicated with most any major paint supplier. If old it may be a laquer which I believe is no longer available in many states (or perhaps the US). You may want to go for a single stage enamel. Are you doing the whole car over or piece work?

Thanks Rick for the kind reply. I just got back from Germany.
The car has a few rust spots (you can see one right above the right turn signal, and more rust is found under the right front headlight), and countless shades of yellow are available. I am told that from a paint code, I can have some touch up paint made locally. Longer term, not really sure what color I want to paint the vehicle. Best Dom

It's a beautiful color, Dom. For best match you may want to have them "Computer match" the color as well. This is where they take an instrument that "reads" the color and finds the closet formula from their paint supplier(s) database. You can either bring the car in if they have a hand held reader or bring a small painted part if they only have a stationary unit. Between that and the color code you should be on your way.

Rick,
For a long time, I wanted to change the color to something else, but could not decide. Needless to say, I did nothing. Bugs always loved the color, and on a gray day, the parked car was full of bugs. As I get older, I actually like this color. The color fits the car. When I the body work done at some future point, I may just want to repaint the car in this color. Some people have suggested changing to a period Porsche yellow, but, I need to look at them in more detail. Perhaps after 30 years with the came car, I don't want to change !!!!!! Best Dom
