Make Bruins Great Again
|
Vaseline works great AFTER the wheels are clean. The downside is the vaseline will attract a little more dirt. A good carnuba wax will do the same thing but stay clean longer. Pick your pain: more work up front or later on. Since my car is a garage queen, I use the vaseline and hit the wheels with a rag and some Meguiars Final Inspection after a drive.
Cleaning is best done with the mildest cleaner possible. P21S comes highly reccomended. NEVER use any acid based wheel cleaner-it will streak and scar your anodized finish forever.

if you want anodizing send them to Harvey W, he has done three sets for me, they always come out great, he recommends soap and water....just don't let them get to dirty. the dirty-er they get the more brake dust gets in the anodizing the harder they are to clean.

I tried the vasoline treatment yesterday after previously cleaning with P21S; the wheels really looked nice afterwards (especially the black centers).

I tried P21S on Fuchs but the result was dissapointing. I also tried it on my 924 turbo cobwebs, and it worked wonders... Absolutely no brake dust after 5 minutes of application and no rubbing at all. Now explain tht if you can.
I also tried vaselive on the Fuchs and it did a better job than P21S. I have now order Mothers wheel cleaner to try it on the Fuchs. |

Well, interesting responses, but during a P-car concurs session with the PCS what was strongly recommended was this stuff in a can called, "wonder wad" , "miracle wad" (?). Darn, I hope I got that name right. Its fantasctic, will last forever over the liquid cleaner and cleans metal to a fantastic luster. Its a blue can....It cleans and polishes.
Can someone help me out here with the name???? Thanks Bob |

Cleaned my Fuchs with Simple Green watered down and a stiff plastic brush (previously used for cleaning shower tiles) followed up with Vaseline. They looked great until I did a DE and got them covered with brake dust and dirt. I guess it's time to give them another cleaning...

I have to agree with rjp911. I couldn't get the dust off of mine with anything and a concourse expert told me to try Never Dull and they cleaned right up...with a little elbow grease.
I always Zaino them afterwards. That stuff is bulletproof.

Fuchs
I use soap and water to wash them and after they are dry I spray them with Pledge wax, the same stuff that you use on furniture. I like there aerosol can and it leave the wheels with just the right amount of shine and it does not attract dirt.

I spray Meguiars detailing spray and a towel to wipe my wheels clean. Then I wax the wheels with carnuaba wax.
