Rear cusion delete sub boxes, how to

First you make the baffle board and tape off your interior (after pulling rear cusions)

next get your f/g mat ready

the next step is to slide in the baffle board

After f/g sets, pull out boxes and trim off excess f/g. Pulling boxes will pull out some of your tape, retape were nec.

Next you put the boxes back in and fill with duroglass (fiberglass filler/putty) use enough so you will have excess to grind off

Pull boxes again and grind/sand off excess duro, check fit

Next mix bondo and resin together (thick soup consistency) and pour in boxes. swoosh around to make sure you get good coverage. This helps with any pinhole leaks you might have. It also makes the box less bongy (a problem with f/g boxes

Last you cover with nice German OEM carpet

Thats it! run your speaker wire into boxes and bolt down, mount the speakers and your done. This is a customers car, waiting on the oem match carpet but you get the idea.

The carpeted ones are in the clasifieds as we speak!

Reminds me of the subwoofer where Howard Stearn would have his lovely guest seated while purring into the mike.

Cheers,

Joe

LOL! Yes they do. When carpeted they pretty much disappear.

Interesting but isn't the freq response of the sub cabinet based upon the internal volume of the enclosure. So what you have is a sealed enclosure with very little internal volume.

Most 8'' woofers are designed to work in .35 cubic ft. This box is right there, too big of box and you loose output, too small and you loose bottom end. The days of large sub boxes for the most part is over.

So you have to remove the seats and belts to fit it all in place then?

yes. They would probably stay put w/o the screw making them easily removable.
