a/c compressor
I own a 88 cab and am in the process of replacing the a/c compressor clutch. Is there a special tool to use when taking the old clutch off, or is it straight foward. If there is a special tool, where can I purchase it, and what's the cost. thanks in advance.

A strap-wrench is what you need. That and a 10mm socket for the nut.

You likely have a Nippondenso 10P15C compressor; check with Autozone. They have a special tool loan/rent program and I believe they have the clutch plate removal tools for this task.
