engine drop question G50 Carrera
We're in the process of dropping the engine and transmission out of my friend's 1988 Clubsport. We're making good progress, but there's one wire that has us scratching our heads.
Specifically, it's what I believe is the speed sensor wire. This is a pair of wires, blue and brown, with a black coating giving it a kind of spiral look. The wire starts somewhere up above the transmission, comes down the starboard side of the transmission (is attached to the trans case by two clips), then winds it's way through the bulkhead into the shift coupling pocket. There the wire terminates in spade connectors, which can be disconnected from the wires that go through the tunnel to the front of the car. OK - the question is whether or not we have to push these wires through the bulkhead in order to get the engine/trans out. The problem is that the ends of the wires have large connectors on them, and the opening in the bulkhead is very small, with a very tight grommet sealing the hole. It would be nice if we could disconnect the wires at the trans (if they are even connected there). What's the story ![]()

My buddy Dan did an awesome pictorial on G50 Carrera engine drops . If your talking about the speedo wires, then yeah, they get pushed through the firewall.
