price check 959 replica
I would like to know what you guys think of this car, It is a 75 911 with a 959 converion kit, It has a 3.2 litter engine on it, late sports seats, no rust at all and the chassis has 70K miles on it.
Please give me your opinion on this car's value here are some pictures the PO says he spent about 25K on the conversion alone Plus the engine, it is a california car

yuck! The 959 is a great car, but I have never seen a real good replica of it for some reason...they always look just wrong.

Yikes!
Well, the market for 959 replicas is pretty thin, esp. if they are lacking the mechanical features.. like 4 valve watercooled heads, twin turbos, awd, etc.. If you owned this car,as with any kit car, you would be lucky to get half your investment back upon resale... Just my opinion, ymmv as always... ![]() PS: want a replica??? Consider the Beck Spyder, it has a following and an established value of sorts..

Agree with above. They always tend to look "home made". Even the original lacks some what in the design IMO - but it gets away with it on superior technical grounds. A replica though is well.. just a sorrow sight.
But each to his own.

I am sure if you got the right wheels, it would make the car look 100% better.

You're using the term, "replica" loosely. It's more of a "looks-like".
A replica would have to have more than a body shape. What would it cost to convert it back into a 911 replica? Still, if you like it, go for it. Sherwood |

I think you (and the current owner) would have a difficult time selling that car so be very careful not to pay too much. It might be worth more parted out.
If you are interested in it anyway, I would wait for the owner to attempt selling it for a while so he gets an idea of what the market is (or more likely, isn't) willing to pay. If I had to set a value on it, I would value it at the price of the motor - about $5500. -Chris

what michael said anyway..if they've spent 25k, as you've indicated, why not spend a little more on replica wheels. do they even make a replica-like 959 wheel??

I'd say 6-8K for value. But to someone who's in love with the shape of the 959, it'd probably be worth more.
The trick is finding that guy. The 959 was a technological wonder. But its styling is a love-it-or-feel-a-little-queazy-about-it kind of thing. You might describe the 911 as the point where engineering and art meet. The 959 is more a case of being at the point where engineering and engineering meet. To me, at least, it's not very beautiful; but, for its time, it was just about perfect.

AS soon as I saw your post i new you were getting your throat cut, get a ppi and if you like the car and the price is right buy it, most of the guys here will eat you up on a none oe car. not everyone of us can own a real 959, a better set of wheels and the car will not look bad, the average person would not have a clue, many of the people that talk bad about the car have hot rods to, no difference, my car is cut up hot rod so whats it matter as long as your enjoying a porsche, go ahead and view some the guys cars that posted, this my two since and im sticking to it, every other day on this bbs someone is selling their porsche to buy a honda or something, i would rather see you buy the Porsche that makes you happy, Kevin

that is not what the 959 rolled out as, instead that is one of the prototype cars used at the auto shows from what I recall.

Love that ebay ad. Seems like you get the 928 and the 924 too. A picture of your keychain? I think that I spelled better in Kindergarten.
