Supercharging 1983 SC

Anyone ever supercharged 1983 sc? (3.0 with CIS)? I know supercharging of Knoxville sells or used to sell a kit but I would I rather save $$$ & buy the needed bracket & piece together the rest? Anyone have or know were I can get the bracket, pulleys, tensioner, etc..? Could I use a vortech, paxton, etc vacuum type fmu for fuel enrichment? Also I have a msd boast timing master left over from my old charged mustang. I could probably use it for this application. Any thoughts or comments is much appreciated!!!!
thx,
Dante

try a search using 'supercharger'. it has been done before..can't specifically recall which engine, but the 3.0 sounds like a reasonable candidate to me.

A fellow in my old PCA region has a Supercharged '83SC. Paxton whipple kit, puts 260HP to the wheels at conservative boost level.
If you want to build one from scratch look up NatChamp here on the board. He built a killer 3.2L SC supercharged and intercooled with EFI.

What about the black plastic air intake box, wont that eventually just split and come apart after awhile under pressure and heat? What do they do the box?

You will need the airbox only if you have a CIS system. If that's problematic, there are aluminum boxes available.

I wonder if a supercharger setup, even a DIY one, ever ends up being cheaper than say a 3.6 conversion by the time you are done.

For info on an aluminum airbox, do a search on mb911 and airbox. You should get a hit titled "How many Bitz EFIers are out there??".

Send a message via Yahoo to Lukesportsman
My TT setup isn't going to end up cheaper, but its easier on my wife's heart to see smaller checks going out though more frequent

Plus, if you build the engine you know what your getting....unless you "know" the 3.6 sourced.
