Excellent question...I am interested in a Bend-Pak mid rise lift, and I was wondering the same thing.

I had visions of the ancient Egyptians dragging those huge stones they used to build the pyramids. I guess we need to get several friends to help, especially if any sort of incline is involved.

Hehhehheh....... I better find some logs....

If worst comes to worst I will assemble it out front and use the motor cart it comes with to 'drive' it to the house.....in my case quite a distance from the street out front...

In my town the local garage has a flatbed, they are willing to have it dropped at their shop, and they pull it up onto the flat bed/ roll off and deliver it and roll it down right where i want it, 50-75 dollars. but well worth the hassle. There are usually nice guys like that in most towns, some scrap companies have 2 ton cranes on the back of trucks they can use to lift boilers ect, they may also help with something like that. By the time you buy pipes and logs or pull out your back the $50-75 move it fee may make a lot of sense, escpecially if it gets dropped of at the place and it saves you having to wait for a truck to show up. My guy rolls his flatbed right up to the back of the trailer truck and it wheels right off. Then titls the bed and puts it right where i need it.

Good luck, be careful lifting.

I think the rails are something like 300 lbs. each - I recommend at least 4 guys or a forklift. Assembly will probably require 4 guys as well. Please let us know how it goes as I am thinking about buying one of these too.

How about you buy 4 of those cheap furniture dollys? When they deliver the lift use a brick or wood or something to keep one corner a few inches off the ground. Then use your floor jack to lift a corner at a time and slide a dolly under each corner.

The truck driver had one of those push-pull forklifts and dropped the palette on my garage floor. Getting the lift off the palette was an exercise not dissimilar to an IQ test ;-)

If it is the MD6, and you have a paved drive, you can use the motor/pump stand to hook the front then drag it on its rear two wheels (this is doable, but will not be fun). First you would have to use a floor jack and some creativity to get it off it's shipping pallet though. I have a fork lift at home, so I cheated, but if I were you, I would just hook a chain to it with your car/truck/lawnmower etc and drag it on its shipping pallet up your driveway and just unpack it near or in the garage.

Resist the temptation to operate it without a car on it when it is new, as I raised mine once I put the oil in it and it would not come down under it's own weight due to friction (being new). I had to fire up my skid loader and bounce the bucket down on it quite a bit to get it to lower from the upper foot or so of travel.

I truly do not know how I got thru life without one of these lifts, I use mine a few times a week typically!

The last 20 feet to my garage is on a 30-40 degree grade......

Four furniture dollies plus a block and tackle or a portable winch. Then it's just a battle of wits.

Sorry about collaborating to the highjack ;-) It's in fact the only car I have left that fits this lift perfectly. I got it originally for the 993 (sold) after it almost fell on me - lifted the floor tile and slipped!!! The 73 911 has oil/AC lines that interfere with this lift, so the 356 is indeed the only car it's still good for !

You like Fjord Green ? Wanna trade ? ;-) It's a US car, no idea about the overriders but they are not stock. The rear still has holes for overrider bars and no bars, so I guess the front were plugged at some point...

you can see the "holes" for the overrider bar in the back still there... The color looks better in that light too, but not accurately so ! I actually kinda hate Fjord Green, but love the car ;-)

I payed the extra $$ to get it delivered by a truck with a lift-gate. I had the furniture dolleys ready but the truck had a pallet mover on it and the driver took it right into the garage. Money well spent. Getting off the pallet wasn't too bad either. I used some 2 x 4's as a lever to raise it off the pallet from one end and just wiggled the pallet out. IIRC I may have used the motor unit/dolly to help lift and pull as well.

Well I got the lift today......

900 #s of pure steel.....couldn't get the pallet jack over the rail for my electric gate in the driveway so he left it on the sidewalk....150 feet away from my garage that is offgrade by about 10 feet.....

Well, as Jack said it was mind over steel......with crowbars, my hydraulic jack, and a modicum of physics I got the thing jimmied off the pallet, over the gate rail and up the 40 degree driveway into the garage all by myself.....

I'm on my third Crown rocks but this lift is awesome........

Tonight you've probably got a new found appreciation for the Egyptian pyramid builders and Ibuprofen, right?

Well, I got clearance tonight to order a lift from the boss

I'm going to be out of town for a couple of weeks, so it will be May before it's ordered. I think I'm going Bend Pak also.
