Well I own a Targa and it's magic but I'll give you one line I heard over on Impactbumpers:

One chap asked : "What do you look for when buying a Targa?"

Response : "A Coupe".

Lol

Ha! That reminds me of an early, simple yet hilarious, response from Rich Gas in the "Targa Inspiration" thread - he said his targa inspiration is a coupe!

Pictures from my last trip in Switzerland and Italy a week ago. How boring would this have been in a Coupé!

Cheers Marcel

I just like the lines of the coupe better.... But then I also like tails and valances!!!!! The flat roof line and the large rear window on the targa take away from the look IMHO. That being said...if I ever get the chance to own two air cooled 911's the second on would be a targa, just to have something different. Somebody once said "The best Porsche is the one in YOUR garage", Enjoy em!!!

Three things wrong with Targas:

You're color matched ascot flaps up in your face, and your color matched girlfriend uses the excuse that "all the acid must have flown out the top".

They're just too small. While it's nice to be able to park your targa on the desk, Edward Norton gets very angry when he can't go for a ride.

Your top blows off when you pop in a Maxwell cassette tape. (Especially if it's April Wine or Loverboy)

Hey Ronnie.930, have you seen Kachi22s car? Pretty ugly Targa for a guy with 30,000 posts...
I would think the more posts you have, the better your car would look, handle and go...I guess not.
My hound loves Bob now...it's like that movie As Good As It Gets, with Jack and his bacon...

I think they look good, but the best versions IMO are mid-year, narrow with no spoiler. (like turbine930's) They dont photograph as well as the coupes, but in person the Targas look very nice.

"Ed" only looks angry because his claimed Parcheesi game with his secretary was interrupted.

cdrik,

Is your friend's name "Bob Kontak" (sure looks like him in the passenger's seat)?!?! Buttofcourse, it could just as easily be Rich, Eric, Tim or Christian (maybe even Matt?) that I see there - difficult to tell those boyz apart!!!

It's kinda nice to feel securely "couped up" when yer bailing down an on-ramp and hitting 100+ before you even have a chance to check upcoming traffic! Can you N/A Targa chimps relate to those apples?!?!?!

And Bob, speaking of "leaving a mark", the above has been known to leave skid marks in passengers' underwear from time to time (so I hear - have not personally inspected for such)!!! I doubt the same can be said for the "Targa experience" that I keep hearing so much about!!!

Tim "Bad (because yer always on'em) Knees" H., I'm not familiar with Kachi22's Targa, but your insights into that situation definitely answer some questions about the matter at hand (or paw)! BTW, has Hound ever used its tires as a latrine!? If so, what were his thoughts on the experience?!

Also, it is understandable that yer Hound and Bob have developed such a luv-luv relationship - dogs of a feather and so forth!!!

Not a pissing contest. Ronnie has to get out 9,000 text words a day and wwest has calmed down a bit.

I think Ronnie also has a glandular problem on top of the minimum word requirement. Not trying to stir up any issues.

Trust me, he is a 911 brother. I have also seen some of his detailed crafting on his purported 930. It's pretty tight.

At least my "squeeze" has teeth.

Sure, I get called "donkey head" from time to time but hey, no biggie.

The only thing wrong with an aircooled 911 targa is I don't have one as a companion machine to my '83 coupe. An '89 targa in white w/ black interior would be soooooo sweet.

Dr. Bob, yer just mad because I refused to submit to yer requested examination of my person - I'm not as accommodating has Tim's hound, I'm afraid!

Interesting, I just thought of an alternative use for the supplemental, radiator coolant bottle I installed on the front bumper of my above pictured "930" - be on guard, my friend!

Personally, the absence of teeth has never been a deal breaker for me - more like the absence of respiratory function, and even then, if might take me a second or two to make the "right call" given the circumstances of the moment!
