I thought about it, and I have come up with one thing I dislike about my Targa. It is sometimes too distracting.

Warm, clear spring / summer nights, top off, driving on two lane roads through what we consider here in Virginia Beach to be farm land, and can actually see stars. I just want to lay my head back and watch the stars and trees pass by me over head.

Then the passenger pokes me and I remember that I am the one driving.

Thumbs up

Cool is the word, man!

My Targa has over a thousand miles on it since mid-March. (Yes, this year!) and hasn't leaked at all. Of course, it hasn't been in the rain, but I do live in Washington State, well south of Seattle, in Lakewood.
Such a fugly car, huh? [img]

'86 Carrera, RED, of course...
Nice black one, Mike!

Tails do not belong on a Targas, they just do not look right to me.
Other than that there fine.

Driving a Targa with the top off:

1. With the windows down it's very close to a cab
2. With the windows up it's much quieter than a cab

*No headliner to fall down or repair.
*Solid black sun visors are easier for local shop to remake.
*Did anyone mention that your ego gets a boost when girls check it out and you think it's you and not the car they are looking at? (at 40 that pays mad dividens)

I'll admit, if I were a track junkie I'd find a coupe. If wife would let me.
Get a safe/reliable daily driver for poor weather and drive the Porsche the rest of the time.

The lack of rear quarter windows and the break in the continuity of the roof to rear fender are the only downsides I can think of. IMO, the 911 silhouette is greatly complemented by these slight details.
But to be sure, ALL 911's are infinitely superior to any other 40-year production sports car design.
It should be mentioned that the Targa represents all 911s at the New York City MOMA exhibit on industrial design...

Targas are pretty good on the track.

All 911's have the potential to look pretty damn good. Targas are certainly no exception. I guess a handfull of Coupe owners feel they must validate themselves or their cars by bashing others.

Bash away...

I was looking for a coup but last month I found this 89, 44k mile car just like it came off the show room floor car and thought I could live with it. I will and I like it. I don't think I will ever worry about the lack of stiffness. It is really fun and I drive it to work everyday. I even like the back window.

Actually, Guards Red is for those of us who are not color blind and mistake it for green, or whatever. By the way, my favorite color is green, but not on my TARGA!
Shades on or not, top off for sure, just too cool!
And I can't even believe the attention!

Great picture of Rosie on the track!

There are some nice examples that's for sure! Loving that black one on the first page for example! However, I'd have to say that most of the generic, everyday, unmodified targas are quite fugly.

You know - didn't your parents ever tell you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it?

The ironic thing about both comments - is one is made by a dude with a 930 and a cheby engine - the other is made by a SC widebody. I'd rather have a stock [insert porsche type here] than a hacked up up P-car anyway...

BTW Slick - that hen {chick} is my wife.
