front bilstien struts

Noticed some knock from the front end while driving last night. Sounds like a shock topping out. I have green bilstien struts up fron on my 82 SC. My question is can I just replace the shock inserts for siad struts, and what is the procedure? Do I need to remove the strut from the car? I searched the forum and only found one thread. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

You can replace the inserts. I know there are a ton of threads regarding this job so try the search again. The strut will actually stay attached to the lower control arm while you replace the insert. Pretty easy job really.

Yes, plenty of great info right here. I changed them myself, and believe me, if I could do it anyone can !! Of course, I have Boge struts so I did not have to struggle with the roll pin, that I would think you have with your Bilstein struts. Search for changing shocks, you will find two weeks of good reading.

Good luck !
