Bosch Distributer/Heat Exchanger Questions
I have a 68 911, and I have removed the Bosch distributor to drill and tap the points mounting hole. While I have the distrubutor out, is there anything else I should do to it in way of precautionary maintainence?
Second question, I have taken off my driver side headers/heat exchanger, I would like to paint them with a high temp paint, can anyone recommend a paint brand and color choice for originality? |

I haven't tried it, but POR-15 makes a manifold paint. If it is as good as their undercoat, it might be worthwhile. Don't know about original color, grey? Mine are various shades of rust. Let me know how you make out. Tom and Wayne may be a distributer of it. Their web page is "www.por15.com"

I have never tried the POR-15 grey manifold product, but I agree that if it is as good as their other products, it is going to be first rate.
I painted by 914 muffler with a really nice grey paint available from Stoddards. Don't remember what it is called, but if you call them, they will know what you are talking about. It is a grey which matches exactly in color the original grey used on early Porsche mufflers, etc. I had my muffler sanblasted, them painted it myself using a paint gun (although I think Stoddard now sells the paint in spray cans). It has been several years now, and my muffler still looks very, very nice. |
