I guess the tongue in cheek approach didn't play so well in the midwest. Sorry.

I have been following along with all of this for a while. I applaud Ben's efforts to develop something a DIY'er can use for upgrades to his stock motor. I have found Ben to be helpful whenever I have communicated with him in the past. I generally find that these discussions are usually technical and helpful. I am somewhat shocked by what I have seen written the past few days, as Bob alludes to. I am not here to join in any acid tounged barb throwing. I'm not jumping on any bandwagons. I am trying to collect relevant, pertinant data, just like Ben is.

What I did say is that I think 300RWHP is a bit optimistic considering the testing that Ben has done, which was at less than 6 PSI, with no intercooler. So, the temperature rise across the compressor is large, and the volumetric efficiency gets beaten down. Now, maybe for a one shot 30 seconds on a dyno, that's all well and good, but how about after the car is running for a while on boost? I am just trying to interject a bit of reality. I have had people come to me and say I'll get 300 HP from mine, and I don't have an intercooler, supplemental fuel enrichment, or any of the stuff necessary to produce bigger HP.

Has anyone actually seen a dyno sheet for a typical BAE install? I don't recall ever seeing one here; perhaps it has slipped my mind if I did. What does the torque curve look like?

I'll dyno mine as soon as I'm done, and then we'll have some hard numbers to look at. I actually hope Ben is getting 300HP, which means I can up my projections for mine. Also, I have CIS, so I feel 225 is a reasonable expectation in my case.

very good point! I think thad and sammy both have dyno sheets I could be wrong but they were upwards of 280 without doubt.. Anyhow let just keep this thing on topic and see how to develop som decent power somewhat reasonable. I agree I have had very limited dyno time so who knows the IC project is next so we will see what happens meanwhile I am just going to enjoy it is great fun.......

OK, here's a couple of references which I had not seen before. It looks like the 9-15 HP/PSI range is the pessimistic/optimistic values, depending on mods. This is why I dyno'ed my SC last fall, so that I could develop a baseline for comparison.

I did some search as well. I found a wild spectrum of 8-22 hp on different web forums. I need to find a good shop local to do this with. I heard borchards out of milwaukee may be able to help..

Facey,

The 1000whp EVO we just finished is a daily driver from Florida.
Just wanted to point that out. We also have another EVO running around that has 988whp, daily driven.

Our drag car which just made 1014whp this morning has been on the same motor all season without any problems.

Ben,

lack of respect? We are currently booked out till late september for dyno tuning or dyno time. We are currently not accepting dyno appointments or renting out the dyno at this time. We are that booked up. Ask Souk, he's been trying to get on the dyno aswell.

I kindley told you that we are booked out on dyno time, I don't see how that is disrespectful at all.

I can't even get my Porsche dynoed w/ the new map-ecu, I bought.
Frank, my brother works there, they did offered me a street tune.

(yes, I am looking for more power) I need help.

I warn all of you, you will start w/ low boost and then, well!!!!!

mb911 08-11-2006 02:33 PM

Frank I know you did tell me that I appreciate that. As to not beat a dead horse lets move on and try to start fresh on this.

Tony you are dead on I already have the bug. I think well what If I do this or this and how this work to get me better in this range. It is very addicting. All will want more boost. Tony I wish you the best with your quest ! I know its expensive just ask juan He spent a forune to get the kind of Hp he was putting out and to him this is all a childs game I am sure that guy built some serious hp.

Oh well

back on topic. just tried out the 46mm wg. There was no difference other then it looks better and it does not sound as loud . I am going to keep it on for now ..

Good luck to all until next time I am out for now

Any updates on this thread? Ben how's the car, did it blow up yet? Any new dyno runs etc etc?

mb911 08-29-2006 06:29 PM

update cars runs great smoked the clutch completly now. but thats about it.

quattrorunner 08-29-2006 07:29 PM

Ben, did you ever use the intercooler yet? I am curious about that.

mb911 08-30-2006 03:03 AM

no IC yet But when I pull the engine this week I will mock up the IC as well

1fastredsc 08-30-2006 01:33 PM

I'm amazed that you popped the clutch with only 5psi of boost. I bet that should be a priority in the conversion. So have you come up with any prices on all the installation parts?

mb911 08-30-2006 02:37 PM

yes we have prices and as far as the clutch it was not so great to begin with so I knew that would happen

jbrinkley 09-03-2006 03:56 AM
