ignition trouble
I was wondering if anyone out there might be able to help me out with an ignition problem.
I've got a '71 911E that seems to have a loose ignition switch. What happens is sometimes when I turn it to the on postion the fuel pump doesn't come on (neither does the alternator light). When this happens the car will turn over but will not start. Other times when the key is turned to the on postition the light comes on and I can hear the fuel pump... the car starts right up. The problem is that sometimes while I'm driving the engine will die. I'm guessing that the loose ignition switch is causing my problem. Here's my question: Should I replace the whole ignition mechanism or just the electrical portion?? Thanks in advance for any help T |

Hi:
I'd suggest replacing the electrical part of your switch before you do anything. The lock part might also be worn but I'd deal with that separately.
