HELP with MSD ignition system

My OEM CDI box was going out. I saw a sale on the same 6420 part # MSD box for $232 which was far cheaper than a stock box so I bought it. I also got a new coil part# 8202, new plugs, cap, rotor, and wires. I spend both Sat and Sun installing this system. I felt real good about the instal. A friend who works at one of the NASCAR shops built me a really nice adapter plate so that I could mount the MSD box to the same aluminum plate my stock box was on and the completed instal looked awesome. Turned the key thought and it cranked away w/o any starting sounds. If anyone who is familiar with installing this system in a SC could please read my steps below or offer any help I would appreciate it.
1) Ran power for the box from my starter to the large 12ga. red wire out of the box
2) used large 12ga black wire to ground the box to the same ground on the aluminum plate where the stock box grounded
3) ran the orange smaller ga. wire to + side of coil and black wire in same sheath to the - of coil
4) ran smaller ga. red wire out of box to red wire from the wire harness that plugged into stock unit with a quick connect
5) cut the red loop under the black cover on the box so box would be set up for a 6 cylinder
6) cut off and sealed the white wire used for points

It all seemed pretty easy. I was alone so not able to pull a plug and check for a spark. Any ideas why it would not be working?

1 (front left) system ground = MSD black coil wire
2 (front middle) Tach wire = MSD black wire from left end of MSD
3 (front right) Signal ground = MSD Purple wire
4 (rear left) Coil Hot +12v = MSD orange coil wire
5 (rear center) Switched +12v = MSD small gauge red wire
6 (rear right) Signal Pos. = MSD Green wire

Note: 3 is the green wire shield connection
6 is the green wire center conductor

did you handle the purple and green wire?

I did not handle the purple and green wire. I was just talking to someone and work they said they think I have if hooked up correctly except that it is not communication with my distributor which would be the purple and green wire (the one that comes off the back of teh box opposite the end where all the main wires come out of correct). What does that hook to? Oh and thanks alot for your help.

vash:
what are you discribing here with the 1-6 scenario??
are you referring the the connections to the old CD box connector? When i wired my MSD box up back in 2002 I did not and still do not use slot 1 or 4. I have a tack box I bought from MSD as well.
My purple wire from the MSD magnetic pick up is in slot 3 and the green is in slot 6. No where do I have black ground wires to the connector. Could you clarify a little for me so I can understand your connections. Do you have a distributor with points?
