It cools your engine oil. Your engine is said to be "air cooled," but it is perhaps more accurate to say it is "oil cooled."

Are you referring to the front AC condensor? About 10" x 16" mounted flat under the front pan?

Or perhaps, an under-bumper cooler might be a transmission cooler.

How would I know the difference between the A/C condenser or a transmission cooler.
Thanks Mark |

If it's smack in the center, and your car came with AC, then it's more than likely your condenser. Most tranny coolers are in the immediate vicinity of the transaxle. And if it was a tranny cooler, it would probably have lines feeding to it that were clearly aftermarket (stainless threaded jacket and blue aluminum fittings), as opposed to black rubber AC lines.

It must be the A/C condenser then. What is the best book for me to get that would cover this kind of stuff.
Thank You Mark |

Get the Bentley manual, and a copy of Waynes 101 projects.

Could it be the radiator?
