Help on adding a front oil cooler for 72T
Does anyone out there have information and/or pics on adding a front oil cooler to a 1972 911T. I have installed a 2.7L with about 225hp? and oil temp is now to #%@* HOT. Thanks in advance for any info or pics that you all could provide.

I did this upgrade using the Elephant Racing parts. If you go that route, it is more or less a complete solution. The supplied bracket was a pain to adapt to the earlier sheetmetal of the pre-'74 car, so I just made my own. You'll need to check your oil tank to see if it has a plug in the bottom (next to the drain plug) where your return line will attach. You'll also need to send your oil filter console out for machining to accept a thermostat. Everything else was straightforward/bolt-up. Check Elephant Racing's site, call Chuck, and do a search here on the forum for more info.
If you don't feel like spending $2k, I've got a more or less complete aftermarket Aeroquip/Mocal system I keep meaning to sell.

Thanks for all the info so far. I have a front oil cooler that mounts in the front bumper (RSR type) and the oil lines from a 87 Carrera to reach back to the oil tank. I am really interest in the plumping at the therostat and oil tankI also have the oil cooler from the 87 Carrera for sale if anyone needs it. How much?
Thanks |
