Stalled three times on the way to work...

Once at idle at a light and twice while traveling at ~45mph. It's like the car was out of gas. The engine did not rev up sporadically or anything like that...just turned off. If I tried to start it immediately, the engine would just turn over. After a few minutes though, the engine would start and I was on my way for a few miles. Luckily, I was able to safely pull over out of harms way each time. I called Tom of Mobile Works and he reminded me of that good ole DME relay or possibly the CHT Sensor. I swapped out the DME relay, but Tom mentioned some paperclip jumper trick for the CHT sensor. I've read a few posts about this jumper trick, but I was wondering if someone could post a pic of where the jumper should go (in case I need to try it tonight on the way home.)

The DME relay I pulled out was dated 8.08.86 and after removing the plastic cover I noticed two solder joints where cracked. Looks like I got a good run on the relay eh?

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

Sediment gets stirred up as you drive, clogs the filter, kills the engine. You sit for a while and the sediment falls to the bottom of the filter. Start up again and you repeat the process.

I know this is simple, but sometimes we overlook the obvious.

Thanks Doug. I have a new fuel filter...maybe I'll install that tonight when I get home tonight.

FYI, I have a major tune-up scheduled for next Thursday...to baseline the car. Looks like she can't wait!

Made it home last night and to work this morning without incident. Not shocked, but it looks like a bad DME relay. Spare DME relay going into the glove box...

Still looking for a pic of the CHT paperclip jumper pic\location.
