idling problem

I have an 86 carrera when it hits operating temp. It accelerates on its own, when I press or release the clutch it will accelerate for a couple of seconds. I thought it was the floor mat push up against the gas pedal, but it still does it.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,

jinkatin

Are you saying fluctuating idle or engine revs up like the throttle is stuck?

If fluctuating it could be many things but I would check the cylinder head temp sensor.

I just replaced mine after chasing a idle problem for some time.

You need to rebuild the pedal assembly with new bushings.
