Not another tensioner question... ok it's another tensioner question

OK, my car has hydraulic tensioners (not sure if they are carrera or 930 tensioners as I did not install them) and they have been on the car for quite a while - the lines started to leak so I had this fixed last week.

Anyway, the left tensioner made a racket when I fired up the car the other day - it sounded like the chain might have been rubbing on the case. After I revved it a few times, the noise went away. Is this the first sign of tensioner failure?

What should I do? Order the rebuild kits or new tensioners and what else?

Scott.

I have my tensioners out of my car right now during my rebuild. If I wanted to compress the piston I would need to use my bench vise as the internal spring is very strong. If you have chain slap I would pull the cover right away and see what's going on. It's not even worth firing up again until you check it out.
