Sure Hal, Lets do it. I just sent a turbo wing to New Jersey. Maybe you could purchase one from a place near me and I could pick it up to aviod shipping for you, then I could ship this one. What do you think

Not a bad idea. Did you have one in mind?

artisticent 10-20-2006 09:17 PM

Hal,

Rennspeed sent me this link, and it is about an hour away, which I dont mind driving. I would want the Getty one although I think I can get it cheaper directly from Getty. Ill find out tomorrow.
Thanks
Nathan

Ok,
So last night I brought home the roof clip and spent all today with the Mrs, stripping it. I am not sure if ill get it welded tomorrow but at least I can get rid of the sunroof.

Well, she's a keeper! :)

Nathan

Have you considered just cutting out the sunroof off and welding on some sheetmetal on the sunroof cutout? I've seen other people do that. It may be a lot easier and less risk of something not lining up later... just a thought.

artisticent 10-22-2006 10:05 AM

I was thinking about that but the front cowl is in pretty bad shape, and the area where the windshield sits is rusty, i figured ill take of it all. Im not sure though. Nothing is ready for welding so ill have time to think about it. I would buy another tub to avoid all this but its hard to find a 73. I also need to remove a lot of debris to see if im dealing with more rust. I have a feeling its a lot of work just to get it to a starting point.

Hey emptyo----did you get in touch with craig (fastbacker) with the turbo flares??

artisticent 10-23-2006 03:09 PM

I need a wiring diagram so that I can remove the gauges without worry of re installing them, anyhelp???
Thanks
Nathan

rennch 10-23-2006 03:49 PM

Nathan, since you're going to do the whole deal, maybe you can find a place locally that will blast the chassis. Should cost you no more than 400-500 bucks.

rennch 10-23-2006 03:54 PM

And yes...I was in touch with Craig (fastbacker)...he doesn't have any turbo flares.

rennch 10-23-2006 04:00 PM

I'll tell you one thing...I've decided to film and edit the video of welding the flares on, for all to benefit from. I just have to find 'em.

:)

artisticent 10-23-2006 05:35 PM

I guess he must have sold them. That will be cool to video all the work. I had my welder come over to give me an idea of the cost of all the work. When he gets to it, ill video it too. I wish I cared less about having the car built on my 73, coz it would definatly be cheaper to buy a rust free tub. Oh well.
Are you held up by the flares? or is there other stuff you can do??

Thanks
Nathan

rennch 10-23-2006 07:22 PM

Yes, at the moment I'm all there (Bumpers, wheels, etc...) except for the flares.

Soon, soon...

artisticent 10-30-2006 09:53 AM

Hey Mike,

any luck getting the flares you need?? I have been at a stand still with all the welding I need to do. Give me an update.
See ya
Nathan

rennch 10-30-2006 09:56 AM

Still haven't found them yet. got the wheels though.

I thought your car was already flared?

artisticent 10-30-2006 02:21 PM

It is but they are over lapping instead of butt welded and I need the roof welded on to lose the sunroof. Im running out of room so its getting hard to work on anything.

it's quite alright if they are overlapping as long as there is seam sealer on each side. I know a lot of people that do it that way.
