Ok, here are the updates on my car. I have the new roof, a new cowl and some fender repair. I am finding so much bondo on this car. For example, the pass door was not adjusted correctly, there was more of a gap between the upper door and the jam than the lower. To fix this you would adjust the hinge and tweak the door to even up the gap, but on my car they decided to BONDO the jam gradually to correct the gap. They must have owned shares in BONDO because there easily $500 of it. Anyway I still need a front suspension pan as mine is rusty and a new hood. My hood has Bondo in it and with a hood there is no point not buying a new one at such a low cost. Here are some pics.
I need a long hood (I would like fiberglass) A front suspension pan (69-73) A rear RSR bumper An RSR/RS decklid http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1163134497.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1163134515.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1163134537.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1163134560.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1163134607.jpg |

RSR projects
Nathan thanks for pointing me in the correct direction. Hi guys met Nathan today he is actually a neighbor 8 miles away. I am doing a 964 RSR street project on a 1993 coupe. I am planning on a 3.8 300 hp engine connected to a Euro g50/21 6 speed close ratio gearbox. Kind of a tribute to the 1973 RSR car if you will. I have already found factory 964 turbo front fenders, turbo rear quarters, factory rocker panels. So how I got started on wheels so that is my current love. I have three sets of wheels that I am either building to use, or sell depending on what my final taste is upon see finished product. I am leaning towards OZ racing 3 piece wheels that are 8.75 x 18 fronts and 11.6 x 18 for rears. I just purchased 4 new rim halves from Germany just to get it right. I am also removing my sunroof and have to weld on the rear quarters. Thinking about some early doors without the steel protection beams and electric windows, and early 930 sport seats without the motors and no rear seats. Mine is still in disassembly waiting on house project to finish, so I sneak time to sand on my wheel centers getting ready for a polish and new clear coat. Been learning all about Speedline wheels both the 3.6 and 993 type and if it weren't for all the open threads with guys sharing information I would not even know how to spell Speedline or know what a special 10 point socket is to undo the bolts on OZ wheels. :) Good job on the progress.... |
Hey Mike,
I would be interested in that hook up for the rear bumper and duck tail. Is it here In CA?? Let me know or pm me. Thanks Nathan |
Hey guys, thanks for posting all those pics of your project. You never know how many of us out here are either contemplating, planning, or already beginning the same project. As for me, I am planning and just about to begin. Keep the pics coming. Nathan, do you have any close-up pics of the roof components. Not having done it, I am not sure where you make the cuts and does the roof skin only come off? I have a snow-hole to loose also......Garry

How's the project coming?

That's a good question. Nathan, how's it going buddy? Mine is in limbo. I had delamination and bubbling issues from incompatible chemicals. I temporarily screwed my flares down until the epoxy cured. When I pulled the screws out, the epoxy seeped up through the holes. After the body putty was applied and cured, there was a reaction between the two chemicals and it caused bubbling in the upper layers. I've ripped off all the fiberglass and gone back with steel. I'll post pics eventually. Hal |
updates?

Man where do you guys find the time to do such massive projects!!
|
No kids.
No 9-5 job. Access to a shop 24-7. :) |
Well, I would like to say I have made tons of progress but that would be a lie. I have all the flares done, butt welded steel the best. New rockers, front suspension pan and roll cage are all done. The car now is a solid place to start which took a lot of work to get there. I bought a GMC Syclone last year and have found nothing else as fast or interesting. I have not yet met a 911 that can beat me off the line so it has changed my priority in the RSR build. I will be getting the RSR and my 1976 911 C2 turbo body Cab that I have also been building back to my garage as I am no longer able to keep them where they are currently. I sill do not have a drivetrain for the RSR. It will remain an excellent platform to be the car I want it to be for a while as it seems as though I am rebuilding the motor and tranny of the Syclone far too often.
Good luck with the builds all and my advice is with how broke everyone is, now is the time to collect as many of the parts you need as possible. Nathan |
