Performance compression ratio?
I finally broke down and bought Bruce Anderson's book. He describes an SC build that sound exactly like what I want (3.2 liters, mild cam, webers, backdated exhaust). His numbers suggest close to 300 hp. Does anyone have experience with this setup? What compression (i.e., what actane is required) is he running in this combination.

He mentions a couple of different pistons other than 'stock' 3.2's, so it would be hard to say! I know that ANDIAL has some Mahle's very close to the Max Moritz sets, but I don't think you will like their prices! Nitroglycerin pills might be nice to have on hand when you talk to ANDIAL!
Best bet would be to email Bruce and ask what he recommends. I don't think he likes compression ratios above 9.5 for street engines, and I agree! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

I here you S man. I just got off the phone with Andial. They want about $3500 for 3.4 or 3.5 Piston and cylinder sets for a 3.2 conversion. The 3.5 needs the case bores machining, and for both sets the heads need profiling to seat on the cylinders. Both are 9.8:1........Vertex have advertised euro 3.2 P/C's for less than 2 grand. The guy at Andial said that the imported OE sets are cheaper than the Mahle sets they...No kidding!

300HP? I don't believe that. Early 930 3.3T motors didn't put out 300HP and they were turbocharged! 250 is more like it.
