Yet another starter question
I've searched, but my issue seems to be the opposite of what I found on here. My starter doesn't want to turn over if my car is cold. It will click everytime you turn the key, and all lights/radio work fine, but it doesn't want to turn. Even sitting overnight is enough to give it problems. The more days it sits, the more tries it takes to catch. Today I had to bump start it. Once it has started, I can turn it on and off as many times as I like that day and it fires immediately. Next day, same issue.
Any theories?

Probably in the high current area; so check battery first, check connections between battery and starter solenoid, also battery ground. Make sure battery being charged properly. Much of this can be checked with voltmeter as well.
Next is solenoid/starter. If you crank alot in cold weather, both the solenoid copper slug gets pitted and the armature contacts in the starter get smeared both loosing juice. If your convinced it may be in there, pull it and have it rebuilt by auto electrical shop, $100. I have have bad battery runs fine all day, sit over night won't start. I have had bad starter runs fine all day, sit over night won't start. The reason relates to cranking juice required while cold, it takes much less to restart. when it is cold out is when a weak batt will show its tail. go to advanec, they will check it for free. also, check ALL the grounds (tranny to body). bad grounds cause more problems than people realize. i assume u also cleaned the batt terminals. if it is clicking, the solenoid is engaging, but as stated above, the contacts inside get burned and loose continuity. you can take the solenoid off, take it apart and rotate the contacts (also clean) 180* and youve got a new solenoid.

Just try this next time it dont work- just jump it, if that dose it well then the problem is obvious
