Exclamation Achtung (warning) Anybody Doing A Face Update On A 911sc Should Read This:

There are a few not spelled out things that you should know.

1st: It is recommended to pull all guages out and do them all at once, this is not neccessary. You can do one at a time, and with the task of prying the bezel away from the container that the guages are in, give yourself a good amount of time. Like several uninterrupted hours.

Be careful if you do not have the new lightbulbs. I was not able to find them anywhere in town and so ordered them frpm the host. 1 buk a piece, get 10. the old bulbs break pretty easy. They push and twist out of their holders.

The far left guage is easy. I marked teh wires with a sharpie with ticks to coorespond to the plug. Also the light bulbs, though it is not neccessary.

The clock is a snap. Took no time at all other than the rolling away of the bezel.

The speedo and tach have more wires and the bulbs connect into the back differently. At first not knowing better i snipped the wires, then wire nutted and electric taped back together. I now know i did not have to do this. the small silver piece against the container peels away and allows you to pull the whole bulb out.

The speedo needle is about 1.5 inches long and is EXTREMMELY HARD to pull out without breaking. all i can say is be so careful. and it may not come out w/o breaking. I'm not sure why this is. This is. So just be very cautious, and be sure to marl the inside of the container where the needle points to at rest. I did not remove the paper on the back as i did not want it to stick to the odometer or tripomter numbers. the screws hold it in tight enough. Make sure to pay atention to the way tis dissassembles. the glass\plastic only goes back on one way.

The Tach can be removed with the steering wheel removed. It's just tight but doable.

I think that a beginner who is extremely cautious can do this project if given a lot of time. I worked on it last night from about 6PM til 10PM. And drove it here to work this morning. Now I haveto dismantle again to try this straw repair to the speedo, and do the other guages. If it does not work out there goes the guage for about two weeks. No more driving it

I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE OUT THERE OUT.

Happy Porscheing
