RSR project almost done

This car has been in the building stages for what seems like is forever, but it is almost done.

I'll get more posted whe get it buttoned up. Those are my spare wheels I have a set that are just getting finished in the proper frosted finish by Harvey. Thanks for all the compliments. Les at Airpower racing has been doing a great job with the car.

Major sweetness!

C'mon, we need some engine specs! Twin plugging?

Might want to can the T-bar covers for a more authentic look...

The torsion bar covers will come off don't worry. The motor is a twin plugged 3.5, Ported 3.2 heads, some kind of custom Elgin grind cam, PMO's 50's. Front Coilovers, turbo brakes, car scoots along very nicely. I'll post dyno data once we get motor broke in.
Thanks,
Phil

I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do with car until half way through build process. I ended up buying a pure track car (another RSR clone) so I decided to keep this one as a street hot rod. So we decided not to go through an do the RSR re- enforcement mods. This a 70 S chassis so I can't run coilovers in rear w/o using an upside mounting kit, we may do that. Really for street duty RSR racing shocks and coilovers are a bit of overkill but hell so is the whole car. Right now car has a stock geared tranny in it and with the torque of the 3.5 I don't think we'll need short gears it. Has a ZF limited slip which it needs in spite of the 345/35 rear tires. I have 3 sets of RSR sized wheels but they are all weld ups. I can't really justify spending 8K on a set of real wheel for a replica car.

"Educate me: Were the original racing RSR's withOUT the Tbar covers? Why?"

RSR were (and still are) purpose built racers. With constant suspension changes, it didn't makes sense to leave the t-bar covers on. That is why most historic pix of RSR don't show any covers.
