Bilstein Strut Insert Install: Gland Nut Not Flush
 I know I've seen this before on a previous search... Just installed one of my new Bilstein Strut Inserts in my Boge strut housings. When I tighten the "gland nut" it doesn't seem to tighten to the point to where it is flush with the strut housing, leaves about a 4mm gap. Is this normal or should it be flush. If flush, what's the deal? Thanks, Gordo

AFAIK, that's correct. Because it cinches the insert to the bottom. If the nut bottomed out, how would you know if the insert was tight to the bottom? If loose, that would make a hell of a noise banging up and down.

Gland nut
I am a technician at Bilstein Shock Absorbers in California. As long as the nut is tight then it is ok. If you have any other concerns concerning your Bilstein Shocks feel free to contact me or go to the website at www.bilstein.com
