Hey guys,
I was looking underneath my car to inspect the torn CV boots and noticed a broken support piece. It looks like it's supporting some cross bar that connects to the rear axle. Unfortunatley it looks like it's part of the chassis but I'm not sure. Can someone identify what part this is and recommend a repair? I think it will need some welding. A body shop? THanks. ![]() |

Paul,
That's a broken rear swaybar mount and a textbook example at that. I recommend you do both sides as the other is sure to fail as well. The best repair is done with Wevo's butiful cast steel replacements (I think Pelican has them), but if money is tight, cheaper (but still stronger than original) stamped parts are available. Be sure to have this done by a good welder, preferably one who knows Porsches. regards, Phil |

As Phil said. You have joined those of us who have had broken rear sway bar brackets. Very common. Very fixable. Porsche even upgraded those brackets in later years.

You can disconnect the entire sway bar and drive around without a problem until you get it fixed.

Thanks guys. A friend of mine is a welder and has his own shop. I showed him the photo and he said to come by and he'll weld the piece back on for me. I have great confidence in him. He builds industrial machines from scratch.
Thanks for the help guys. |

This thread has some great pictures of an installation of the Wevo part.
http://tinyurl.com/ymad4m If you have a good welder, Paul, maybe now's the time for an upgrade. Good luck!
