One great looking engine!

well, the exterior RSR backdate is 74.4 hours - doing a good job grafting an early front panel (with correct bumper mounts), removing/filling all the 964 rocker indentations/holes, shortening the jack points, removing the rear bumper mounts and modifying the frame for proper early bumper mounting arrangement, welding/filling the sunroof, properly attaching 930 flares, modifying the leading edge of the early front fenders, modifying the factory rear bumpers to follow the contour of the 930 flares, modifying the decklid hinges to accept the early decklid.

Additionally, grafting in the 72 oil door assemly and modifying the 964 oil tank is 13 hours.

- of course, this particular job is getting a dash transplant, manual window conversion, etc., etc. to end up with as close to an early RSR as possible (visually), using a 964 chassis for all the suspension, braking (ABS), and rigidity as a modern car provides.

needless to say, we are pretty excited to have the opportunity to push the envelope (because of couragous clients like the owner of this car and 911teo) repeatedly with these cars.

but, I digress from the point of this thread - giving you guys something cool to look at while you should be busy at work!

What is funny is that since I asked this question I've totally restored this car and it would have been nearly the same money to do this type of conversion keeping my same drivetrain... this is going to be a work of art but then that is what these guys are, artists.

917 in 15" for the road
RSR in 17" or 18" for the track...

eimkeith 01-30-2008 06:58 AM

Can you tell us about the rear brake setup. I can't see the caliper and don't recognize the rotor(964T maybe?) if so 964T trailing arms?

well, 4.0L (built off of 3.6), Motec, ITBs, Elite cylinder heads (I believe), water-cooled crank... spec'd, assembled, tuned by Peter Dawe.

The car is a 1990 964 C2 (in a former life.)

I would like to know the details of how they 'water-cool 'the crank?;)

eimkeith 01-30-2008 10:19 AM

btw, 964 standard arms, 993 RS calipers, 968 S rotors. Big blacks up front on 993TT rotors, evo uprights. JRZ coilovers, ERP everything else.

Yes, I recognized all the front stuff, basicly a 993RS/Evo front end.

The rear is something I have never seen.
968 M030 rear rotors?

the big caliper on the right, not the little one on the left?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201721145.jpg

Any other mods to the 964 arms?

996GT3 crank

eimkeith 01-30-2008 10:48 AM

Bill - I'll get a picture of the rear setup next time the wheel is off.

AND, we considered the dual caliper setup like you posted, then decided to pass on it. ;)

Thanks! thats not really a dual caliper setup(which would never work right anyway) just a mockup to show the 2 most common rear calipers for a 964 or 993
