One of the major problems with a narrow body backdate on a 964 is the modern hub design/wheel offset that these and later porsches have. The fuchs will look really odd because they wont have any 'dish'. |
Can't wheel offsets be changed, or maybe the hubs? Dunno...
|
The hubs stick out farther so you end up with a very flat fuch. Not sure on different hubs, it has something to do the way they manufacture brakes and ABS etc. now that the hubs all have a "front wheel drive" offset.
|
I think they did this to fix the scrub radius issues and bearing loads. When you put the bearings more toward the center of the wheel there are less moment forces on the bearings. This is a good thing with bigger wheels. Do these hubs use one or two bearings like the turbos?

I just got my head stuck in this thread. Are there any updates on the car?

Heater Tubes in The Rockers
Are the heater tubes in the rockers metal, or some sort of paper? Seems like I've seen pictures of both. Does the dipping and e-coat process damage the heater tubes if they are paper?

Love these modern classics.

Thanks for bumping this; I'll be updating this thread after I get the Mary Stuart thread wrapped up.
Looking forward to it. |
