I have to admit that I did the same thing once. Sometimes the passion for excellence or "need for speed" causes one to take steps that others with more sense might consider irrational.
Before and after shots. Can't tell you what's under the skin though -- it's classified. ![]() ![]() ![]() To this day, nothing else compares. Ahh, the thrill of competition. The smell of burning oil. The stains of multiple fluids leaking constantly from various seals and gaskets.

Jay,
Very nice! I get the feeling there was a gold Hurst Performance special project for Car and Driver under all that rattle-can paint and Tempra ... must have missed that issue!

Admit that it is a very clean and great looking car and will probably fool 99.5% of the people out there into believing it is the $70K real deal. As long as it performs and looks the part and women are lining up to ride it I am happy

Call me crazy, but I think thats a great idea. Everything great about the 993, body, interior etc. But you still get a lighter weight traditionally suspended 911 that most people seems to prefer over the multi link setup. Great idea, and nice execution.

Love it or hate it, I DO give the guy credit. A TON of work...obviously more than he bargained for, and it does appear to be thorough and well done. But he's not pompous to the extreme, like many Porsche car ads on ebay are...such as the recent 8500rpm, 165 MPH 911S, and he DOES tell us whats not good, and where the car fails in comparision to a 993.
Sure it doesn't take a rocket wizard to figure out some of it, but at least he mentioned it. The car's not for everyone, including me, but there's far worse out there.

Up until I saw the photos of the trunk, I was starting to think it was a 993 and the 1980 part was a typo.

All other things being equal, what's more important, multilink rear suspension or 800 lbs. less weight?

LOL, I just noticed that the guy who started this thread owns a stock engined 1980 911SC designed to look like a later model slope nose TURBO.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. |

I don't think it's a tough crowd at all...most have said that it's a very detailed car and Evilbay ad...and it is. This is being talked about on Rennlist, too, and as I said there, it would have made more sense to just buy a 993. Know when to say say "when"...

What's the fun in "just buying a 993"? As I said in my book, for the money I spent on my gold-plated SC, I could have bought a brand-new 911. Would have taken me an hour to drive to Nanuet and back, give it an hour at the dealership doing the paperwork...two hours and I'm done. Instead, I had two _years_ of pleasure (and education) getting upside down on a very powerful, fast and fun quarter-century-old car.
