rsr painted!
The body shop called me this week to tell me the car is painted and ready to move back to my shop. it only took 1 1/2 years for this day! i have 2-3 months before winter is over here in Chicago so i have time to take my time for assembly. the shell i gave the body shop had tons of bondo over dents and rust repair panels. i had the whole car media blasted and then used that peel-away stripper on the undercoating. i ended up replacing the hood, front fenders and doors with fiberglass from rennspeed. both rockers and door jambs were replaced with sheet metal from Stoddard. the rear turbo flairs were metal worked to eliminate the need for all the bondo that was used. the right rear seat bottom was rusted out so a patch panel was fabricated. i had the rear cross member and torsion tube reinforced and added a duct for the front oil cooler. most of the spot welds were stitch welded also. i had the wheel wells and bottom pan coated with 3M rocker-guard. the whole shell was then painted the wrong shade of gulf blue, sanded down and re-painted the correct color. the paint is base clear and needs to be wet sanded before it gets put on a trailer. i will be posting more now that progress will be made.

Wow! Nice looker. :)

great to see the different colors on these cars. noticed you have the wevo rear mounts and one of the oil cooler panels (hmm.. where did that come from? grin)
car is looking great - it should be a stunner once completed |
that is the second set of wevo mounts - the bodyshop lost and paid for the first set. i actually got the duct from elephant - i needed a bunch of other stuff from them so i saved on shipping. it looks like you make them for Chuck.

Wow the car is stunning.
Would you mind expanding on, "used that peel-away stripper on the undercoating." And also what media did you have them blast your car with? Thanks and good luck getting that beauty back together. Should be a couple months of fun. Rich |
