Easy to put turbo engine in an 89C4
He guys, how easy do you think it would be to put a turbo engine in my C4?
My main concern is if the drivetrain can handle the power? Any thoughts?

You'll be better off turbo'ing the 3.6 in there already! Just remove the pistons and have the crowns machined down to a more boost friendly compression ratio of 8.5:1 (this is done very often). You'll then have the advantage of twin plugs & EFI & AWD
![]() Your drivetrain will handle it... the G50 is a very strong box ![]() 964 pistons can be shaved down to within .100" of the deck. That gives you 8.5:1 c/r and has been perfect for turbo-charging. Even without going inside the engine, you can get 425-450HP at only 0.5-0.6bar

Com'on guys. You are teasing me to no extent. Has anyone done this already? Should I pick up a blown c2 turbo motor, if possible, for the parts? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

C2T's run archaic CIS injection... you would need to back-date all your EFI in your 964 C4... If you don't believe me, contact Todd Knighton of Protomotive and have a chat with him (knighton@protomotive.com) about turbo conversions for your 964 C4

Which turbo set-up would work the best? I will search turbos to try to get an answer.

You need to speak to Mike Levitas... that chassis and drivetrain will handle plenty more power and he has the experience in doing it, everywhere from the street to the 24 hours of Daytona.

Might be cheaper and more practical to sell your C4 and buy an earlier 930 if you want turbo.

I personally wouldn't go for anolder 930. You already have the awesome coil overs, ABS, power steering, AWD, working A/C and more comfort

I was suggesting an older 930 only if he didn't want to spend more money and used the money he got from selling the C4 - a 965 would cost a bit more I think.
