That's is the only thing that scares me is if there is going to be drama. Like maybe not being able to get the fenders to look correct.....

I guess we would never know if we don't take chances.

is this the same for 74-77 narrow-body cars?

if i'm not mistaken these came with 7 x 15 wheels and 185 tyres.

i was looking at the bask of my car last night and i dont know if you could fit any bigger than 8" on the back

Something like this I suspect? You might get a 9', 245/40 or 35 x 17 in there. Even unflared a 235/45/17 fit easy enough on a 8" rim. We did the fronts and backs adding at least an inch on both ends so I know 8 and 10s will work. With the right combo a 9" wheel and tire might fit up front.

Will there be offsets made for 964?

Jeff Alton 01-18-2007 05:44 PM

I just looked at the pole results, and it seems the 8/10 combo is out in front. I hope you guys know the work involved to make that fit in the rear and that you *may* have some rubbing in the front.......

Cheers

I would like to see 17" rims in 9" and 11" widths for my turbo look

rdane 01-18-2007 06:27 PM

Done right, like the factory Fikse 8s, the 8x17s are an easy fit in front with either the 225/45/17 or 235/45/17s on an SC. I had a bit of rubbing on my unrolled stock SC with 235/45/17 none with the 225/45. The 10s on the other hand are a very tight fit and take soem work.

The pole was only to give Moses an idea of what the demand might be for other sizes.

I would think that the numbers might indicate there could be other options available after the first 7.5s and 9s become available.

Here is a couple shots of my SC flared '74 RS turbo 911:D. I am running 17x8 & 9.5's with 235/40 & 275/40-17 Toyo RA-1's. It took a bit of trial and error to get it to all work well without rubbing (shaved bolts, rolled fenders, aggressive alignment settings). When all was said and done, I feel it was worth the effort, but it is not what I would consider a simple bolt on. It can be done but is probably not the best setup for everyone-IMO. I agree with what Moses has chosen for the initial sizing-17 x 7.5 & 9 will work AWESOME on any RS, SC or Carrera flared car without ANY messing around to get it to work. Good Job, Moses. BTW, I want a set in RSR finish.

Nice looking ride Bryan!

Mose's original poll has something like 150 votes for interest in the 7.5 x 9, mine included. I'll buy at least one set in that size but would also like to see some other sizes made. No question a 8x10 combo is not for everyone on a SC/Carrera size flare. PIA to fit up right.

You never know what people might buy without asking.

Jeff Alton 01-18-2007 07:21 PM

Don't get me wrong, I think the pole is a good idea. I have run 8's on my car in the past in the front and those fit fine. The guy who had them build new what he was doing, right Dane:) ( I miss those wheels)

But the 10 is another story that may not have a happy ending for everyone.

But then you see the car in the photo above and see how great the 275 looks when it fits perfectly and you start thinking it would be worth the effort!

Cheers

Another early (no flare) guy here.

If you do the 17x 7.5's I'm hoping the offset will be such that a 225/45 would fit under both front and rear. If Bryan was able to get a 235/40 on 8's under the front fenders of his SC, I'm thinking that 225/45's should work.

Wow Bryan that car is incredible..

Slider79SC 01-19-2007 02:49 PM

OK, I could go for 8's and 10's for the SC then. The extra inch in the front won't help that much.

jjwood 01-20-2007 08:23 AM

I'd like to see 8 & 10's x 17" for 964 applications (both with & w/o flares). The next backdate trend... see Porsche Doc's 964 backdate project.
