According to "Original Porsche 911" by Peter Morgan, Guards Red was a standard paint option starting in '74.

What about the nice seventhies color: gold metallic...?;)

You love it or you hate it!

I hated it, but starting to love it as I will repaint my car in this same color at the end of it's restoration.

As I understand, the red Carrera´s 3.2 was not Guards red, but India red.

I thought the color was the same and just a name change.

Have not seen many in Petrol Blue. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1169405700.jpg

That Petrol is a great color.

I know of a one-off, special request by the original owner for Porsche to use GM paint so his 911 would match his Caddilac. The car's a gem. Owned by a fellow on the Early 911S registry site.

But then come to think of it, I've only seen one car in Rose Red = Pink.

Ken911 01-21-2007 11:32 AM

Yes guards red and india red are the same color

That is Ice Blue. Is there a paint code number in the jamb?

ZAMIRZ 01-21-2007 12:13 PM

It's impossible to answer your question, because there are a bunch of paint-to-sample cars out there that are one-of-a-kind.

Sam,
My '77 Targa is also Ice Green Metallic. I've only seen one other in my neck of the woods.

If we are talking factory colors not paint to sample then Kiln Red is pretty rare. '83 and '84 only as I recall.

My 83 is Quartz Gray I believe it was only available in 83.

Another vote for Ice Green Metallic.
I had mine repainted by the paint code on the door (260?) as I recall....
Have only seen 2 others this color in Colorado.
