austin552 01-25-2007 02:42 PM

AMB may have a different color their calling Tobacco Brown. Any way I would like to check yours out sometime.

Jadams1 01-25-2007 05:19 PM

I wanted silver but have really grown to like my casablanca beige metallic SC. I have only seen one other SC this color.

This looks the same. I believe it's Marine Blue Metallic, and it does change color with different levels of sunlight.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1169779269.jpg

Thanks Jim! Dalmation blue is nice too, pretty RS's! My car is a funky Toyota color from the 90s, don't know what it's called exactly. It's in between Albert and Dalmation/Sea/Oxford Blue. My car should be the original Albert Blue...gotta put a few rock chips in the current paintjob though....

Is yours this color? Mine is a 79SC. If so, it's called Tobacco Metallic. Not too many around. I've seen maybe three or four others in 20+ years and a couple dealers have told me they seldom see them. Always gets complements though. Definitely a period color for the 70's.

Here it is, Sorry for the horrible pic quality, I will take some better one's soon enough. This was actually my grandfathers originally, and he left it to me when he passed away. I grew up drooling over this car.

Great 911s guys!! Looks like I got some work to do...

johndglynn 01-27-2007 03:01 AM

What about this - 2.7 in factory paint, done for the '76 Geneva Show. Pretty impressive if someone's seen another one. I love this car; bright solid (non-metallic) colours are right up my street. On sale here.

Not sure if this Duncan Blue was available for the 911 but I love it.
RARE 916 by the way!!

Ice Green '77

Coinceidence?
A fella in my Marina has a pony tail like me, a daughter named samantha like me and a 1977 ice green 911s targa
also like me.
I would love a plum shade if it looked right. I know it's not factory but it would be unique.
Sam

Jim, is that your car? That is one of, if not THE, prettiest 911's I have ever seen. Really, I mean that. Awesome. It is almost a simple beauty, just the right amount of everything and an awesome color to set it off just right!

Nod to you!

Shane

How many Ruby Red's out there? Can someone tell me how many were produced in that color? How many in 1983 (mine is an 83 cab with grey-beige interior)? When did Ruby Red become an offical Porsche color?

Thanks

Iris Blue

I agree with Chris that Iris Blue is pretty rare. I've only seen one other Iris Blue 911 in person, and it was a targa recently for sale at Ancira near Boerne.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170958563.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170958768.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170958837.jpg

Where is the paint code located? I have a guards red targa that I believe is the original color, but would like to know for sure.

John Brandt 02-09-2007 12:39 PM

in the nose, on your left hand (passenger) side about at hood level

islandflyer 02-09-2007 01:13 PM

WEll as far as rare colors go,, I think my Nougat Brown is on top the list. I think it was only a special order color in 87-88. there is one in FL (another Pelicanite) and I saw a cab for sale a few years back!!!!

RLJ 02-09-2007 01:18 PM

I have seen a picture of a Lilac colored 1973 RS. I have been told that the car lives in Seattle somewhere. That is a rare color.

Randy Jones
1971 911 "Iris" (1995 Iris Blue Metalic on a long hood car is rare too)

islandflyer 02-09-2007 01:27 PM

sorry forgot the pic!!

austin552 02-09-2007 02:07 PM

I have heard that the 911 was available in 914 colors as well. Is this true???

Les Paul 02-09-2007 02:13 PM

kilodawg said kikn red was rare. Mine is a 76 turbo and they made them in 86 too. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1171062754.jpg so add that to the 83 and 84 model years. A guy that used to post here Leland Pate had a mid to late 911 in that color too.
