3.2 crankshaft counter rotation (just curious)
I saw on different thread than when we rotate a crankshaft anti clockwise by the cooling fan shaft nut...we can damage the engine...I am just curious...what kind of damage can happen...?

You take the tension off the timing chains. I would surmise you could screw up the engine timing by doing so.

Thanks Kurt...But can we damage the engine if we turn it manually backward...with the cam still linked...?

I want to know as well. Can you actually jump a sprocket at such a low turning rate, even though the tensioners aren't pumped up?

I don't think you can cause problems as long as you have the tensioners installed. They pop up pretty strong once you release them.
Maybe if they don't have any oil in them (just air) then there could be a remote possibility of skipping a tooth. I'm sure you would hear it though. -Andy
