I vote to keep the 964 Cup! You'll kick yourself later on for selling it. It's the real deal. The other one's a clone (a nice clone, but a clone nonetheless).

Can I ask a stupid question. It doesn't seem like a cash flow problem so why even bother selling any of them? Take the cup car out for a morning bash and enjoy a sunset ride with the honey in the RSR. I can't think of many better ways to waste one of my days on this planet, maybe a powder day at Targhee.

You folks are making all the same arguments I have made in my own head already. Why sell any of them - that's a damn good question. I agree the cup car has better long term appreciation potential but man I really love the RSR, it's always been my favorite Porsche. I guess it come down to this - I have two kids so my play time away from family is limited. I plan on running 6 race weekends already this summer. I have only 6 months where I can drive any of these cars, these things aren't built to sit around and collect dust. My wife doesn't enjoy fast drives anymore- something about having children I guess. She used to be one hell of a driver.

Call me crazy but it sounds like you've already made your decision. Just DO NOT look at the price cup cars change hands for 10 years down the road. The cars aren't about the money anyway. It's about enjoying them and it really sounds like you enjoy the RSR.

If you already have a track car, I would keep the 964 cupcar. If you only plan to DE it there is little risk to it being damadged. Your Clone is nice, but I would sell it and let someone else enjoy it while use your track car and cupcar for giggles.

Well my wife still has the LT-1 Convertible Corvette she got when she turned 16, we'll probaly will have something the kids can enjoy when they can drive. I have owned about 20 Porsches, I only regret selling one, a 72 S with 44K miles. When that sold again recently I thought I don't want make that same mistake again. I guess I just need a bigger garage.

What's the VIN number on the Cup Car? I may have helped stripped and rebuilt it both times...perhaps that's the one where the motor fell out when towing it from the warehouse to the race shop?

In any event, if my hand's are on it, sell it while you can...

Based on your comments about your expected driving time, keep the Cup. You have the old school race car. Down the road you can always recreate the RSR clone.

The Cup is, like you said, 1 of 45. No more new ones coming out.

The Carrera Cup is a factory original racecar with all of the 'good bits' on it...

And everything about the way it looks has been copied 8 ways to Sunday. It looks like just another post 1990 racecar.

The RSR makes you just want to grab a lawn chair and sit and stare at its curves. (hubba-hubba!) It may not be able to turn the same laptime as the Cup but it still has a heart that a later car can't equal.
