I am very close to scrapping my steel front 73 fenders and getting fg ones. Mine need a lot of filler and im doing a fg hood and bumpers anyway. Still have to decide. Thanks for moving along on your project at a good pace, it will motivate me. by the way, I have that power window wiring issue in my other car, How did you solve it, what wire goes where. My pass window switch is out coz it wass not working right.

If you go fiberglass for fenders I recommend either Rennspeed or Getty. I'm not impressed with GT Racing fenders at all (I have them on my RSR roller).

As far as the power window problem - go manual!

Search here and you will find a diagram with the correct setup. When I get home I can send you the doc I downloaded from here... but most likely you can find it faster by searching the forum. I do not have it in my work laptop.

I was under the impression that you get no weight benefit from going with manual windows... I rather have the luxury of electric windows... hate to strech over to open the passenger window when needed.

Have you seen or worked with Rennspeed or Getty parts?? Any photos? Or you making your comment based on what you have read from other folks?

I am getting ready to order the back parts and need to decide what company to get those from. Thanks.

The weight difference is marginal. I prefer manual windows.

Did RSR's come with power windows?

I have worked with Rennspeed parts exclusively. If I scrap my GT Racing parts I'll probably still go with Rennspeed though I'm also considering Getty for my widebody longhood.

Jack, You may have been asked this before on another post, but where did you get the tail lights and clear lens cover to go over them? Rennspeed?

No. Back when I got the 911R assemblies, they weren't available in the same way they are now. Mine were made by a guy in South Africa who had made a set for himself. The AR Concept ones available now are much nicer. I think tremotorsports.com carries them.

I got the lenses through a Pelican member who (at the time) lived in Switzerland. They were an off-the-shelf item at his local parts store. When I broke one more recently, I got it through 'andyjboy' here on Pelican.

And the rear license plate panel is also not Rennspeed. It was a mod popular in the early seventies made by a company called Mitcom.

Started working with the fiberglass... oohhh boy, what a mess... I had some resin jelly from AutoZone and some of the good stuff from the boat shop. Guess what I started with... you are right, the cheap stuff from AutoZone...I will use the epoxy I got at the boat store for the other side to see how the two compare.

I started by covering with tape the areas that I will build on. So tape over the border of door, and over the side where the bolt clips are. The I brushed a lot of mold wax over the tape and parts closed by. This wax helps keep the fiberglass resin from sticking to stuff it should not...

Looks awful... but got to remember this is my first... three layers of long cloth strips going from top to bottom and a few short strips going from the inside to the fender.

I quickly realize that I made a mistake going with the jelly resin... best to use the liquid stuff... The epoxy resin from the boat store is liquid and the hardener is the one that provides more time to work the cloth... so I expect the other side and the additional build up on this one to go smoother...

Not using the jelly again... you are supposed to use a brush to apply it to the area before applying the cloth... well... it does not run that smooth over an area that already has wax on it... also dipping the cloth in the jelly... you really have to work the jelly into the cloth... did I said I was not going to use that jelly again?

Anyway... here is the fender with the added material. Once it is dry I will remove the fender and add a couple of layers to make sure that area is strong enough to drill the holes and serve its purpose...
