Heater Controls Help

Can someone enlighten me on what these controls actually do?

The two controls on the ground (pull levers) physically connect through wire etc to your heater boxes that are in line from you heat exchangers and you hot air tubing that runs to the flapper boxes in you trunk. When you pull the levers up, they cause the vent in the heater box to close so you get more heated air flow. When the levers are down the allow the heater boxes vents to stay open.

Basically they are a way to get more or less heat into you cabin.

Thanks Matt. Excuse my ignorance but you also have heater controls on the Dash. Are the dash controls purely used with the A/C or are they also heater controls? That is why I am a little confused.

There are two types of dash controls. One has two knobs on the top and the other only has one. If you have the two knobs on top the left knob is moved to the right to allow more fresh air into the cabin and to the left to allow less. The top knob (actually these are all levers too) on the right is used to control the speed of the fresh air blower.
The bottom two levers are used to control the direction of the air from the fresh air blower (top, bottom or mix) and the bottom lever (usually red) is used to control the direction (top, bottom or mix) of the air that is coming from your heat exchangers (which the amount is somewhat controled by the levers on the floor controlling the vents on the heater boxes).
The middle control switch (above the heater control levers in your original picture) is used to control the automatic heating. I'm too familiar with it because a PO removed mine, but someone else here can pass on good info to you about it.

Go out and play with the controls (when you're parked) and they'll make sense to you. This is one of the most painful things to learn while you're trying to drive. Once you realize what each does, it'll make sense to you and even seem like it may be the best way to control you ventilation and heating.

Like Matt said. The 3 speed dial on the top of the console between the seats controls the speeds of the footwell blowers located behind those furry tumors in the left and right footwell. Are they working?
If not you need to do a search on footwell blowers, heating, heater blowers etc. There is a life times worth of info here.
