Reusing Axle Bolts
Any opinions on reusing the axle joint bolts? Several auto manufacturers recommend replacing the axle bolts when removing them. I was just wondering if that was the case with my 68 SWB 911.

My wrench does it all the time. He only replace when they are questionable. +1 on the washers, a must.

You can get schnorr washers from porsche but they are rather spendy
Or you can get them from McMaster Carr $11/100 McMaster-Carr and they even come in a bag with the schnorr logo

Many do. Many do not.
People have differing opinions about the bolt stretch under torque, etc, and many people make their decision based on whether the car is DD or raced. I do not reuse them.

Just did my rear wheel bearings and I replaced them since they have a tendency to strip (Spent 2 hours getting stripped one out) and they're cheap insurance.

They're so cheap, I usually toss em. Check out your local hardware store for the bolts.

We have some good hardware stores here. The bolts I'm talking about are stamped 12.9. And depending on which cv boot kit you use, there are different bolt lengths too.
